|@AL QADR 97 The Honor – Al Qadr

1:1 In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful

# بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ 1

 

$ The Night of Honor which occurs during the last nights of Ramadan 97:1-5

97:1 We sent this (the Holy Koran) down on the Night of Honor.

# إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةِ القَدْرِ 1

97:2 What could let you know what the Night of Honor is!

# وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا لَيْلَةُ القَدْرِ 2

97:3 The Night of Honor is better than a thousand months,

# لَيْلَةُ القَدْرِ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ 3

97:4 in it the angels and the Spirit (Gabriel) descend by the permission of their Lord upon every command.

# تَنَزَّلُ المَلائِكَةُ وَالرُّوحُ فِيهَا بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِم مِّن كُلِّ أَمْرٍ 4

97:5 Peace it is, till the break of dawn.

# سَلامٌ هِيَ حَتَّى مَطْلَعِ الفَجْرِ 5

 

|@AL BAYYINAH 98 The Proof – Al-Bayyina

1:1 In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful

# بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ 1

 

$ Jews, Nazarenes and Christians were ordered to worship Allah alone 98:1-6

98:1 The unbelievers among the People of the Book and the idolaters would never desist until the Clear Proof came to them.

# لَمْ يَكُنِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ أَهْلِ الكِتَابِ وَالْمُشْرِكِينَ مُنفَكِّينَ حَتَّىتَأْتِيَهُمُ البَيِّنَةُ 1

98:2 A Messenger from Allah reciting Purified Pages

# رَسُولٌ مِّنَ اللَّهِ يَتْلُو صُحُفاً مُّطَهَّرَةً 2

98:3 in which there are valuable Books.

# فِيهَا كُتُبٌ قَيِّمَةٌ 3

98:4 Those to whom the Book was given did not divide themselves until the Clear Proof came to them.

# وَمَا تَفَرَّقَ الَذينَ أُوتُوا الكِتَابَ إِلاَّ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا جَاءَتْهُمُ البَيِّنَةُ 4

98:5 Yet they were ordered to worship Allah alone, making the Religion His sincerely, upright, and to establish their prayers and to pay the obligatory charity. That is indeed the Religion of Straightness.

# وَمَا أُمِرُوا إِلاَّ لِيَعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ حُنَفَاءَ وَيُقِيمُوا الصَّلاةَ وَيُؤْتُوا الزَّكَاةَ وَذَلِكَ دِينُ القَيِّمَةِ 5

98:6 The unbelievers among the People of the Book and the idolaters shall be for ever in the Fire of Gehenna (Hell). They are the worst of all creatures.

# إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ أَهْلِ الكِتَابِ وَالْمُشْرِكِينَ فِي نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا أُوْلَئِكَ هُمْ شَرُّ البَرِيَّةِ 6

 

|@ The best of all creatures 98:7-8

98:7 But those who believe and do good deeds are the best of all creatures.

# إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ أُوْلَئِكَ هُمْ خَيْرُ البَرِيَّةِ 7

98:8 Their recompense is with their Lord; Gardens of Eden, underneath which rivers flow, where they shall live for ever. Allah is well-pleased with them, and they are well-pleased with Him. That is for he who fears his Lord!

# جَزَاؤُهُمْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّاتُ عَدْنٍ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهَا الأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا أَبَداً رَّضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوا عَنْهُ ذَلِكَ لِمَنْ خَشِيَ رَبَّهُ 8

 

|@AZ ZALZALAH 99 The Earthquake – Az-Zalzalah

1:1 In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful

# بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ 1

 

$ The earthquake on the Day of Resurrection 99:1-8

99:1 When the earth is shaken with its mighty shaking,

# إِذَا زُلْزِلَتِ الأَرْضُ زِلْزَالَهَا 1

99:2 and when the earth brings forth its burdens

# وَأَخْرَجَتِ الأَرْضُ أَثْقَالَهَا 2

99:3 and the human asks, “What is the matter with it?”

# وَقَالَ الإِنسَانُ مَا لَهَا 3

99:4 On that Day it shall proclaim its news,

# يَوْمَئِذٍ تُحَدِّثُ أَخْبَارَهَا 4

99:5 for your Lord will have revealed to it.

# بِأَنَّ رَبَّكَ أَوْحَى لَهَا 5

99:6 On that Day mankind shall issue in scatterings to see their deeds.

# يَوْمَئِذٍ يَصْدُرُ النَّاسُ أَشْتَاتاً لِّيُرَوْا أَعْمَالَهُمْ 6

99:7 Whosoever has done an atom’s weight of good shall see it,

# فَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ خَيْراً يَرَهُ 7

99:8 and whosoever has done an atom’s weight of evil shall see it.

# وَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ شَراًّ يَرَهُ 8

 

|@AL ‘ADIYAAT 100 The Runners – Al-‘Adiyat

1:1 In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful

# بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ 1

 

$ The love of wealth and greed 100:1-11

100:1 By the snorting runners (the horses),

# وَالْعَادِيَاتِ ضَبْحاً 1

100:2 by the strikers of fire,

# فَالْمُورِيَاتِ قَدْحاً 2

100:3 by the dawn raiders,

# فَالْمُغِيرَاتِ صُبْحاً 3

100:4 raising a trail of dust,

# فَأَثَرْنَ بِهِ نَقْعاً 4

100:5 dividing the gathering.

# فَوَسَطْنَ بِهِ جَمْعاً 5

100:6 Indeed, the human is ungrateful to his Lord.

# إِنَّ الإِنسَانَ لِرَبِّهِ لَكَنُودٌ 6

100:7 To this he himself shall bear witness.

# وَإِنَّهُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ لَشَهِيدٌ 7

100:8 And indeed he is ardent for the love of good (wealth, becoming greedy).

# وَإِنَّهُ لِحُبِّ الخَيْرِ لَشَدِيدٌ 8

100:9 Does he not know that when that which is in the graves is overthrown,

# أَفَلاَ يَعْلَمُ إِذَا بُعْثِرَ مَا فِي القُبُورِ 9

100:10 and that which is in the chest is brought out,

# وَحُصِّلَ مَا فِي الصُّدُورِ 10

100:11 indeed, on that Day their Lord will be aware of them!

# إِنَّ رَبَّهُم بِهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّخَبِيرٌ 11

 

|@AL QAARI’AH 101 The Clatterer – Al-Qari’a

1:1 In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful

# بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ 1

 

$ The scales of justice 101:1-11

101:1 The Clatterer (the Day of Judgement)!

# الْقَارِعَةُ 1

101:2 What is the Clatterer.

# مَا القَارِعَةُ 2

101:3 What shall let you know what the Clatterer is!

# وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا القَارِعَةُ 3

101:4 On that Day people shall become like scattered moths

# يَوْمَ يَكُونُ النَّاسُ كَالْفَرَاشِ المَبْثُوثِ 4

101:5 and the mountains like tufts of carded wool.

# وَتَكُونُ الجِبَالُ كَالْعِهْنِ المَنفُوشِ 5

101:6 Then he whose deeds weigh heavy in the Scale

# فَأَمَّا مَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَازِينُهُ 6

101:7 shall live in a life which is pleasing,

# فَهُوَ فِي عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ 7

101:8 but he whose weight is light in the Scale,

# وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَازِينُهُ 8

101:9 his head will be in the Plunging

# فَأُمُّهُ هَاوِيَةٌ 9

101:10 What shall let you know what the Plunging is?

# وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَاهِيَهْ 10

101:11 (It is) a Fire which is extremely hot.

# نَارٌ حَامِيَةٌ 11

 

|@AT TAKAATHUR 102 The Excessive Gathering – At-Takathor

1:1 In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful

# بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ 1

 

$ The Day you will be questioned 102:1-8

102:1 The excessive gathering (of increase and boasting) occupied you (from worshipping and obeying)

# أَلْهَاكُمُ التَّكَاثُرُ 1

102:2 until you visit the graves.

# حَتَّى زُرْتُمُ المَقَابِرَ 2

102:3 But no, indeed, you shall soon know.

# كَلاَّ سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ 3

102:4 Again, no indeed, you shall soon know.

# ثُمَّ كَلاَّ سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ 4

102:5 Indeed, did you know with certain knowledge

# كَلاَّ لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عِلْمَ اليَقِينِ 5

102:6 that you shall surely see Hell?

# لَتَرَوُنَّ الجَحِيمَ 6

102:7 Again, you shall surely see it with the sight of certainty.

# ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَيْنَ اليَقِينِ 7

102:8 On that Day, you shall be questioned about the pleasures.

# ثُمَّ لَتُسْأَلُنَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَنِ النَّعِيمِ 8

 

|@AL ‘ASR 103 The Afternoon -Al-‘Asr

1:1 In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful

# بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ 1

 

$ Those who believe and those who do not 103:1-3

103:1 By the time of the afternoon!

# وَالْعَصْرِ 1

103:2 Surely, the human is in a (state of) loss,

# إِنَّ الإِنسَانَ لَفِي خُسْرٍ 2

103:3 except those who believe and do good works and charge one another with the truth and charge one another with patience.

# إِلاَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ 3

 

|@AL HUMAZAH 104 The Backbiter – Al-Humazah

1:1 In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful

# بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ 1

 

$ The punishment for backbiting and slandering 104:1-9

104:1 Woe to every backbiter, slanderer

# وَيْلٌ لِّكُلِّ هُمَزَةٍ لُّمَزَةٍ 1

104:2 who amasses wealth and counts it,

# الَّذِي جَمَعَ مَالاً وَعَدَّدَهُ 2

104:3 thinking his wealth will render him immortal!

# يَحْسَبُ أَنَّ مَالَهُ أَخْلَدَهُ 3

104:4 On the contrary! He shall be flung to the Crusher.

# كَلاَّ لَيُنْبَذَنَّ فِي الحُطَمَةِ 4

104:5 What shall let you know what the Crusher is?

# وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الحُطَمَةُ 5

104:6 (It is) the kindled Fire of Allah,

# نَارُ اللَّهِ المُوقَدَةُ 6

104:7 which shall oversee the hearts,

# الَّتِي تَطَّلِعُ عَلَى الأَفْئِدَةِ 7

104:8 closed around them

# إِنَّهَا عَلَيْهِم مُّؤْصَدَةٌ 8

104:9 in extended columns.

# فِي عَمَدٍ مُّمَدَّدَةٍ 9

 

|@AL FIIL 105 The Elephant – Al-Feil

1:1 In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful

# بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ 1

 

$ The year in which Prophet Muhammad was born 105:1-5

105:1 Have you not seen how Allah dealt with the companions of the Elephant?

# أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصْحَابِ الفِيلِ 1

105:2 Did He not cause their schemes to go astray?

# أَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ كَيْدَهُمْ فِي تَضْلِيلٍ 2

105:3 And He sent against them flights of birds

# وَأَرْسَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ طَيْراً أَبَابِيلَ 3

105:4 pelting them with stones of baked clay,

# تَرْمِيهِم بِحِجَارَةٍ مِّن سِجِّيلٍ 4

105:5 so that He made them like straw eaten (by cattle).

# فَجَعَلَهُمْ كَعَصْفٍ مَّأْكُولٍ 5

 

|@QURAISY 106 Koraysh – Koraysh

1:1 In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful

# بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ 1

 

$ The tribe of Koraysh 106:1-4

106:1 For the custom of the Koraysh,

# لإِيلاَفِ قُرَيْشٍ 1

106:2 their custom of the winter and summer journey.

# إِيِلاَفِهِمْ رِحْلَةَ الشِّتَاءِ وَالصَّيْفِ 2

106:3 Therefore let them worship the Lord of this House

# فَلْيَعْبُدُوا رَبَّ هَذَا البَيْتِ 3

106:4 who fed them from hunger and secured them from fear.

# الَّذِي أَطْعَمَهُم مِّن جُوعٍ وَآمَنَهُم مِّنْ خَوْفٍ 4

 

|@AL MAA’UUN 107 The Assistance – Al-Ma’un

1:1 In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful

# بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ 1

 

$ Those of weak belief 107:1-7

107:1 Have you seen he who belied the Recompense?

# أَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِي يُكَذِّبُ بِالدِّينِ 1

107:2 It is he who turns away the orphan

# فَذَلِكَ الَّذِي يَدُعُّ اليَتِيمَ 2

107:3 and does not urge others to feed the needy.

# وَلاَ يَحُضُّ عَلَى طَعَامِ المِسْكِينِ 3

107:4 Woe to those who pray,

# فَوَيْلٌ لِّلْمُصَلِّينَ 4

107:5 who are heedless of their prayers (delaying them from their prescribed times),

# الَّذِينَ هُمْ عَن صَلاتِهِمْ سَاهُونَ 5

107:6 who show off,

# الَّذِينَ هُمْ يُرَاءُونَ 6

107:7 and prevent the utensils of assistance.

# وَيَمْنَعُونَ المَاعُونَ 7

 

|@AL KAUTSAR 108 The River of Abundance – Al-Kawthar

1:1 In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful

# بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ 1

 

$ The watering place in Paradise given to Prophet Muhammad 108:1-3

108:1 Indeed, We have given you (Prophet Muhammad) the abundance (Al Kawthar; river, its pool and springs).

# إِنَّا أَعْطَيْنَاكَ الكَوْثَرَ 1

108:2 So pray to your Lord and sacrifice.

# فَصَلِّ لِرَبِّكَ وَانْحَرْ 2

108:3 Surely, he who hates you, he is the most severed.

# إِنَّ شَانِئَكَ هُوَ الأَبْتَرُ 3

 

|@AL KAAFIRUUN 109 The Unbelievers – Al-Kafiroon

1:1 In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful

# بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ 1

 

$ How to respond in the best manner to the unbelievers 109:1-6

109:1 Say, ‘O unbelievers,

# قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الكَافِرُونَ 1

109:2 I do not worship what you worship,

# لاَ أَعْبُدُ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ 2

109:3 nor do you worship what I worship.

# وَلاَ أَنتُمْ عَابِدُونَ مَا أَعْبُدُ 3

109:4 Nor am I worshiping what you have worshipped,

# وَلاَ أَنَا عَابِدٌ مَّا عَبَدتُّمْ 4

109:5 neither will you worship what I worship.

# وَلاَ أَنتُمْ عَابِدُونَ مَا أَعْبُدُ 5

109:6 To you your religion, and to me my Religion.’

# لَكُمْ دِينُكُمْ وَلِيَ دِينِ 6

 

|@AN NASHR 110 The Victory – An-Nasr

1:1 In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful

# بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ 1

 

$ The Opening of Mecca 110:1-3

110:1 When the victory of Allah and the opening comes,

# إِذَا جَاءَ نَصْرُ اللَّهِ وَالْفَتْحُ 1

110:2 and you see people embracing the Religion of Allah in throngs,

# وَرَأَيْتَ النَّاسَ يَدْخُلُونَ فِي دِينِ اللَّهِ أَفْوَاجاً 2

110:3 exalt with the praise of your Lord and ask forgiveness from Him. For indeed, He is the Turner (for the penitent).

# فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَاسْتَغْفِرْهُ إِنَّهُ كَانَ تَوَّاباً 3

 

|@AL LAHAB 111 The Flame – Al-Lahab

1:1 In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful

# بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ 1

 

$ The punishment of Abi Lahab and his wife 111:1-5

111:1 Perish the hands of Abi Lahab, and perish he!

# تَبَّتْ يَدَا أَبِي لَهَبٍ وَتَبَّ 1

111:2 His wealth will not suffice him, neither what he has gained;

# مَا أَغْنَى عَنْهُ مَالُهُ وَمَا كَسَبَ 2

111:3 he shall roast at a Flaming Fire,

# سَيَصْلَى نَاراً ذَاتَ لَهَبٍ 3

111:4 and his wife, laden with firewood

# وَامْرَأَتُهُ حَمَّالَةَ الحَطَبِ 4

111:5 shall have a rope of palm-fiber around her neck!

# فِي جِيدِهَا حَبْلٌ مِّن مَّسَدٍ 5

 

|@AL IKHLASH 112 Oneness – Al-‘Ikhlas

1:1 In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful

# بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ 1

 

$ Allah is One, there is none equal to Him 112:1-4

112:1 Say, ‘He is Allah, the One,

# قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ 1

112:2 the called upon.

# اللَّهُ الصَّمَدُ 2

112:3 Who has not given birth, and has not been born,

# لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ 3

112:4 and there is none equal to Him.’

# وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُ كُفُواً أَحَدٌ 4

 

|@AL FALAQ 113 Daybreak – Al-Falaq

1:1 In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful

# بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ 1

 

$ Seek refuge with Allah from evil 113:1-5

113:1 Say, ‘I take refuge with the Lord of Daybreak

# قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الفَلَقِ 1

113:2 from the evil of what He has created,

# مِن شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ 2

113:3 from the evil of the darkness when it gathers

# وَمِن شَرِّ غَاسِقٍ إِذَا وَقَبَ 3

113:4 from the evil of the blowers on knots;

# وَمِن شَرِّ النَّفَّاثَاتِ فِي العُقَدِ 4

 

$ Do not envy 113:5

113:5 from the evil of the envier when he envies.’

# وَمِن شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ 5

 

|@AN NAAS 114 People – An-Nas

1:1 In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful

# بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ 1

 

$ Seek refuge with Allah from the whisperings of satan 114:1-6

114:1 Say, ‘I take refuge with the Lord of people,

# قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ 1

114:2 the King of people,

# مَلِكِ النَّاسِ 2

114:3 the God of people,

# إِلَهِ النَّاسِ 3

114:4 from the evil of the slinking whisperer.

# مِن شَرِّ الوَسْوَاسِ الخَنَّاسِ 4

114:5 who whispers in the chests of people,

# الَّذِي يُوَسْوِسُ فِي صُدُورِ النَّاسِ 5

114:6 both jinn and people.’

# مِنَ الجِنَّةِ وَالنَّاسِ 6

 



Our Lord! Forgive us our sins as well as those of our brethren who proceeded us in faith and let not our hearts entertain any unworthy thoughts or feelings against [any of] those who have believed. Our Lord! You are indeed full of kindness and Most Merciful (59:10)
