|@AD DUKHAAN 44 The Smoke – Ad-Dukhan
1:1 In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
# بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ 1
44:1 HaMeem
# حـم 1
|@ The warning, wisdom and mercy in the Koran 44:2-5
44:2 By the Clear Book
# وَالْكِتَابِ المُبِينِ 2
44:3 that We sent down during a Blessed Night. We are ever warning.
# إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةٍ مُّبَارَكَةٍ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنذِرِينَ 3
44:4 In it every wise matter is determined
# فِيهَا يُفْرَقُ كُلُّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ 4
44:5 an order from Us. We are ever sending.
# أَمْراً مِّنْ عِندِنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ 5
|@ Allah is the Creator of all things 44:6-7
44:6 A Mercy from your Lord, He is the Hearer, the Knower.
# رَحْمَةً مِّن رَّبِّكَ إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ 6
44:7 Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you are certain (of your faith).
# رَبِّ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ 7
|@ Death versus doubt 44:8-9
44:8 There is no god except He. He revives and causes to die. (He is) your Lord and the Lord of your fathers, the ancients.
# لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ آبَائِكُمُ الأَوَّلِينَ 8
44:9 Yet they are in doubt, playing.
# بَلْ هُمْ فِي شَكٍّ يَلْعَبُونَ 9
|@ The outcome of rejecting Prophet Muhammad 44:10-16
44:10 Watch for the Day when the heaven will bring clear smoke,
# فَارْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِي السَّمَاءُ بِدُخَانٍ مُّبِينٍ 10
44:11 engulfing the people; this will be a painful punishment.
# يَغْشَى النَّاسَ هَذَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ 11
44:12 ‘Our Lord, remove this punishment from us, we are believers. ‘
# رَبَّنَا اكْشِفْ عَنَّا العَذَابَ إِنَّا مُؤْمِنُونَ 12
44:13 But how will they avail themselves of the Reminder, when a clear Messenger had already come to them
# أَنَّى لَهُمُ الذِّكْرَى وَقَدْ جَاءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ مُّبِينٌ 13
44:14 but then they turned away from him, saying, ‘He is tutored, mad!’
# ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ وَقَالُوا مُعَلَّمٌ مَّجْنُونٌ 14
44:15 We are removing the punishment a little, but you revert.
# إِنَّا كَاشِفُوا العَذَابِ قَلِيلاً إِنَّكُمْ عَائِدُونَ 15
44:16 But on that Day We will assault them most mightily, and then We shall revenge!
# يَوْمَ نَبْطِشُ البَطْشَةَ الكُبْرَى إِنَّا مُنتَقِمُونَ 16
|@ Moses and Pharaoh 44:17-21
44:17 We tried Pharaoh’s nation before them. A noble Messenger came to them,
# وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَجَاءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ كَرِيمٌ 17
44:18 (saying,) ‘Be obedient to me O worshipers of Allah. I am your honest Messenger.
# أَنْ أَدُّوا إِلَيَّ عِبَادَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ 18
44:19 Do not rise up against Allah, I come to you with clear authority.
# وَأَن لاَّ تَعْلُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ إِنِّي آتِيكُم بِسُلْطَانٍ مُّبِينٍ 19
44:20 I take refuge with my Lord and your Lord lest you stone me.
# وَإِنِّي عُذْتُ بِرَبِّي وَرَبِّكُمْ أَن تَرْجُمُونِ 20
44:21 And if you do not believe me, then leave me!’
# وَإِن لَّمْ تُؤْمِنُوا لِي فَاعْتَزِلُونِ 21
|@ The exodus 44:22-23
44:22 Then he (Moses) supplicated to his Lord saying, ‘These are sinful people.’
# فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ أَنَّ هَؤُلاءِ قَوْمٌ مُّجْرِمُونَ 22
44:23 (His Lord answered), ‘Set out with My worshipers in the night, for you will surely be followed.
# فَأَسْرِ بِعِبَادِي لَيْلاً إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ 23
|@ The drowning of Pharaoh and his army 44:24-29
44:24 Then leave the sea calm they are an army that will be drowned.’
# وَاتْرُكِ البَحْرَ رَهْواً إِنَّهُمْ جُندٌ مُّغْرَقُونَ 24
44:25 How many gardens and fountains did they leave behind,
# كَمْ تَرَكُوا مِن جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ 25
44:26 and sown fields, fine sitting places,
# وَزُرُوعٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ 26
44:27 and good things in which they took delight.
# وَنَعْمَةٍ كَانُوا فِيهَا فَاكِهِينَ 27
44:28 As such (it was). And We made other people inherit them.
# كَذَلِكَ وَأَوْرَثْنَاهَا قَوْماً آخَرِينَ 28
44:29 Neither heaven nor earth shed tears for them; nor were they respited,
# فَمَا بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّمَاءُ وَالأَرْضُ وَمَا كَانُوا مُنظَرِينَ 29
|@ The Children of Israel disbelieved after being saved 44:30-39
44:30 and We saved the Children of Israel from a humiliating punishment
# وَلَقَدْ نَجَّيْنَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ مِنَ العَذَابِ المُهِينِ 30
44:31 from Pharaoh, who ranked high in sin,
# مِن فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُ كَانَ عَالِياً مِّنَ المُسْرِفِينَ 31
44:32 and We chose them, out of a knowledge above the nations (of their time).
# وَلَقَدِ اخْتَرْنَاهُمْ عَلَى عِلْمٍ عَلَى العَالَمِينَ 32
44:33 And gave signs to them in which there was a clear trial.
# وَآتَيْنَاهُم مِّنَ الآيَاتِ مَا فِيهِ بَلاءٌ مُّبِينٌ 33
44:34 Yet these say,
# إِنَّ هَؤُلاءِ لَيَقُولُونَ 34
44:35 ‘There is nothing except the first death, we shall never be revived.
# إِنْ هِيَ إِلاَّ مَوْتَتُنَا الأُولَى وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُنشَرِينَ 35
44:36 Bring us our fathers, if what you say is true.’
# فَأْتُوا بِآبَائِنَا إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ 36
44:37 Are they better or the people of Tubba’ and those who were before them whom We destroyed? Indeed they were sinners.
# أَهُمْ خَيْرٌ أَمْ قَوْمُ تُبَّعٍ وَالَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ أَهْلَكْنَاهُمْ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا مُجْرِمِينَ 37
44:38 It was not in play that We created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them.
# وَمَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا لاعِبِينَ 38
44:39 We created them in nothing else except the truth. But most do not know.
# مَا خَلَقْنَاهُمَا إِلاَّ بِالْحَقِّ وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ 39
|@ The Day of Decision 44:40-42
44:40 The Day of Decision which no one can escape
# إِنَّ يَوْمَ الفَصْلِ مِيقَاتُهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ 40
44:41 On that Day no cousin shall help his cousin and they shall not be helped
# يَوْمَ لاَ يُغْنِي مَوْلًى عَن مَّوْلًى شَيْئاً وَلاَ هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ 41
44:42 except those on whom Allah will have mercy. He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful.
# إِلاَّ مَن رَّحِمَ اللَّهُ إِنَّهُ هُوَ العَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ 42
|@ The food and drink of Hell 44:43-50
44:43 The food of the Zakkum tree
# إِنَّ شَجَرَتَ الزَّقُّومِ 43
44:44 shall be the food of the guilty sinners.
# طَعَامُ الأَثِيمِ 44
44:45 Like molten copper boiling in the belly
# كَالْمُهْلِ يَغْلِي فِي البُطُونِ 45
44:46 as the boiling of the hot water.
# كَغَلْيِ الحَمِيمِ 46
$ The unbeliever’s punishment in Hell 44:47-50
44:47 ‘Seize him and drag him into the center of Hell.
# خُذُوهُ فَاعْتِلُوهُ إِلَى سَوَاءِ الجَحِيمِ 47
44:48 Then pour the punishment of boiling water over his head,
# ثُمَّ صُبُّوا فَوْقَ رَأْسِهِ مِنْ عَذَابِ الحَمِيمِ 48
44:49 (Saying), ‘Taste, surely you are the mighty and noble!
# ذُقْ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ العَزِيزُ الكَرِيمُ 49
44:50 This is that which you doubted.’
# إِنَّ هَذَا مَا كُنتُم بِهِ تَمْتَرُونَ 50
|@ The reward of Paradise 44:51-57
44:51 Indeed, for those who feared (Allah) is a secure place
# إِنَّ المُتَّقِينَ فِي مَقَامٍ أَمِينٍ 51
44:52 amidst gardens and fountains,
# فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ 52
44:53 dressed in silks and brocade, set face to face.
# يَلْبَسُونَ مِن سُندُسٍ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٍ مُّتَقَابِلِينَ 53
44:54 As such, We shall wed them to wide-eyed houris (the virgins of Paradise).
# كَذَلِكَ وَزَوَّجْنَاهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍ 54
44:55 There in security, they will call for every kind of fruit.
# يَدْعُونَ فِيهَا بِكُلِّ فَاكِهَةٍ آمِنِينَ 55
44:56 There they shall not taste death, except the first death, and He will shield them from the punishment of Hell,
# لاَ يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا المَوْتَ إِلاَّ المَوْتَةَ الأُولَى وَوَقَاهُمْ عَذَابَ الجَحِيمِ 56
44:57 as a bounty from your Lord. That will be the mighty triumph.
# فَضْلاً مِّن رَّبِّكَ ذَلِكَ هُوَ الفَوْزُ العَظِيمُ 57
|@ The Koran is easy to recite and remember 55:58-59
44:58 We have now made it easy on your tongue, in order that they remember.
# فَإِنَّمَا يَسَّرْنَاهُ بِلِسَانِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ 58
44:59 So be watchful, they too are watching.
# فَارْتَقِبْ إِنَّهُم مُّرْتَقِبُونَ 59
|@AL JAATHIAH 45 The Kneeling – Al-Jathiah
1:1 In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
# بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ 1
45:1 HaMeem.
# حـم 1
|@ If the Words of Allah and His signs are not believed, in what will people believe? 45:2-11
45:2 The sending down of the Book is from Allah, the Almighty, the Wise.
# تَنزِيلُ الكِتَابِ مِنَ اللَّهِ العَزِيزِ الحَكِيمِ 2
45:3 Indeed, there are signs in the heavens and earth for believers,
# إِنَّ فِي السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ لآيَاتٍ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ 3
45:4 and in your creation, and in the crawling things that He has scattered far and near, there are signs for a nation whose belief is certain,
# وَفِي خَلْقِكُمْ وَمَا يَبُثُّ مِن دَابَّةٍ آيَاتٌ لِّقَوْمٍ يُوقِنُونَ 4
45:5 and in the alternation of the night and day, in the provision Allah sends down from heaven with which the earth is revived after its death, and in the changing about of the winds, there are signs for people who understand.
# وَاخْتِلافِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ وَمَا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مِن رِّزْقٍ فَأَحْيَا بِهِ الأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا وَتَصْرِيفِ الرِّيَاحِ آيَاتٌ لِّقَوْمٍ يَعْقِلُونَ 5
45:6 Such are the verses of Allah. We recite them to you in truth. So in what speech, after Allah and His signs, will they believe?
# تِلْكَ آيَاتُ اللَّهِ نَتْلُوهَا عَلَيْكَ بِالْحَقِّ فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيثٍ بَعْدَ اللَّهِ وَآيَاتِهِ يُؤْمِنُونَ 6
45:7 Woe to all the guilty impostors!
# وَيُلٌ لِّكُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِيمٍ 7
45:8 He hears the verses of Allah recited to him and then, as though he never heard them, persists in insolence. Give to him the glad tidings of a painful punishment.
# يَسْمَعُ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ تُتْلَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ يُصِرُّ مُسْتَكْبِراً كَأَن لَّمْ يَسْمَعْهَا فَبَشِّرْهُ بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ 8
45:9 As for he who knows something of Our verses and then mocks them for those there is a humiliating punishment.
# وَإِذَا عَلِمَ مِنْ آيَاتِنَا شَيْئاً اتَّخَذَهَا هُزُواً أُوْلَئِكَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُّهِينٌ 9
45:10 Gehenna (Hell) is behind them, all that they have earned shall not help them at all, nor shall those they took as guardians, other than Allah. For them there is a mighty punishment.
# مِن وَرَائِهِمْ جَهَنَّمُ وَلاَ يُغْنِي عَنْهُم مَّا كَسَبُوا شَيْئاً وَلاَ مَا اتَّخَذُوا مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ أَوْلِياءَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ 10
45:11 This is guidance; for those who disbelieve in the verses of their Lord the anger of the painful punishment awaits them.
# هَذَا هُدًى وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِآيَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مِّن رِّجْزٍ أَلِيمٌ 11
|@ Stop and think 45:12-13
45:12 It is Allah who has subjected to you the sea so that ships run upon it at His command, and so that you may seek His bounty and be thankful.
# اللَّهُ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَكُمُ البَحْرَ لِتَجْرِيَ الفُلْكُ فِيهِ بِأَمْرِهِ وَلِتَبْتَغُوا مِن فَضْلِهِ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ 12
45:13 He has subjected to you whatsoever is in the heavens and the earth; all is from Him. Surely, there are signs in this for people who contemplate.
# وَسَخَّرَ لَكُم مَّا فِي السَّمَوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الأَرْضِ جَمِيعاً مِّنْهُ إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لآيَاتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ 13
|@ Muslims are to be tolerant and leave the outcome to Allah 45:14-15
45:14 Tell the believers to forgive those who do not look for the Days of Allah, so that He recompenses the people for what they have earned.
# قُل لِّلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا يَغْفِرُوا لِلَّذِينَ لاَ يَرْجُونَ أَيَّامَ اللَّهِ لِيَجْزِيَ قَوْماً بِمَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ 14
45:15 He who does what is right does it for his own gain, and he who does evil does so at his own loss, then to your Lord you shall all return.
# مَنْ عَمِلَ صَالِحاً فَلِنَفْسِهِ وَمَنْ أَسَاءَ فَعَلَيْهَا ثُمَّ إِلَى رَبِّكُمْ تُرْجَعُونَ 15
|@ The blessings and mercy of Allah to the Children of Israel for their belief in one God and those amongst them debated about the Truth of Allah 45:16-17
45:16 We gave to the Children of Israel the Book, judgment and prophethood. We provided them with good things and preferred them above the worlds (of their time).
# وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ الكِتَابَ وَالْحُكْمَ وَالنُّبُوَّةَ وَرَزَقْنَاهُم مِّنَ الطَّيِّبَاتِ وَفَضَّلْنَاهُمْ عَلَى العَالَمِينَ 16
45:17 We gave them clear signs of the Command; yet it was not until after knowledge had come to them that they differed among themselves, and were insolent to each other. On the Day of Resurrection your Lord will indeed decide their differences.
# وَآتَيْنَاهُم بَيِّنَاتٍ مِّنَ الأَمْرِ فَمَا اخْتَلَفُوا إِلاَّ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا جَاءَهُمُ العِلْمُ بَغْياً بَيْنَهُمْ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَقْضِي بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَ القِيَامَةِ فِيمَا كَانُوا فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ 17
|@ Prophet Muhammad, the last prophet of Allah, was given the Law of Allah 45:18-20
45:18 And now, We have set you on the jurisprudence of the Command, therefore follow it and do not follow the desires of those who do not know.
# ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَاكَ عَلَى شَرِيعَةٍ مِّنَ الأَمْرِ فَاتَّبِعْهَا وَلاَ تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَاءَ الَّذِينَ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ 18
45:19 Indeed, they will not help you at all against Allah. The harm doers are guides of each other; but Allah is the Guide of the cautious.
# إِنَّهُمْ لَن يُغْنُوا عَنكَ مِنَ اللَّهِ شَيْئاً وَإِنَّ الظَّالِمِينَ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَاءُ بَعْضٍ وَاللَّهُ وَلِيُّ المُتَّقِينَ 19
45:20 These are clear proofs for people, a guidance, and mercy for those who are certain (of the Resurrection) in belief.
# هَذَا بَصَائِرُ لِلنَّاسِ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ لِّقَوْمٍ يُوقِنُونَ 20
|@ Evil and good deeds 45:21-22
45:21 Do those who commit evil deeds think that We will make them (equal) to the believers who do good works, so that in life and death they shall be alike? How evil they judge!
# أَمْ حَسِبَ الَّذِينَ اجْتَرَحُوا السَّيِّئَاتِ أَن نَّجْعَلَهُمْ كَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ سَوَاءً مَّحْيَاهُمْ وَمَمَاتُهُمْ سَاءَ مَا يَحْكُمُونَ 21
45:22 Allah created the heavens and the earth in truth and that each soul shall be recompensed for what it earned, they shall not be wronged.
# وَخَلَقَ اللَّهُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ بِالْحَقِّ وَلِتُجْزَى كُلُّ نَفْسٍ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ وَهُمْ لاَ يُظْلَمُونَ 22
|@ Those who follow the frailties of personal desire in preference to the infallible guidance of Allah 45:23
45:23 Have you seen he who took his desire for a god? With knowledge, Allah has led him astray, setting a seal upon his hearing and heart, and has made a veil over his eyes, who then shall guide him after Allah? Will you not then remember!
# أَفَرَأَيْتَ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ إِلَهَهُ هَوَاهُ وَأَضَلَّهُ اللَّهُ عَلَى عِلْمٍ وَخَتَمَ عَلَى سَمْعِهِ وَقَلْبِهِ وَجَعَلَ عَلَى بَصَرِهِ غِشَاوَةً فَمَن يَهْدِيهِ مِنْ بَعْدِ اللَّهِ أَفَلاَ تَذَكَّرُونَ 23
|@ The denial of the fact that it is just as easy for Allah to create us as it is for Him to resurrect us with His command “Be” and it becomes 45:24-26
45:24 They say, ‘There is nothing except this life, we die and we live, it is only time that destroys us.’ Surely, of this they have no knowledge, they are just guessing.
# وَقَالُوا مَا هِيَ إِلاَّ حَيَاتُنَا الدُّنْيَا نَمُوتُ وَنَحْيَا وَمَا يُهْلِكُنَا إِلاَّ الدَّهْرُ وَمَا لَهُم بِذَلِكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ إِنْ هُمْ إِلاَّ يَظُنُّونَ 24
45:25 And when Our verses are recited to them, their only argument is, ‘Bring our fathers back to us, if what you say is true!’
# وَإِذَا تُتْلَى عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتُنَا بَيِّنَاتٍ مَّا كَانَ حُجَّتَهُمْ إِلاَّ أَن قَالُوا ائْتُوا بِآبَائِنَا إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ 25
45:26 Say, ‘Allah revives you and causes you to die. Then, He shall gather you on the Day of Resurrection, and of this there is no doubt, yet most people do not know.’
# قُلِ اللَّهُ يُحْيِيكُمْ ثُمَّ يُمِيتُكُمْ ثُمَّ يَجْمَعُكُمْ إِلَى يَوْمِ القِيَامَةِ لاَ رَيْبَ فِيهِ وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ 26
|@ Losers and winners 45:27-35
45:27 To Allah belongs the Kingdom in the heavens and the earth. On the Day when the Hour comes, those who disbelieved shall be the losers.
# وَلِلَّهِ مُلْكُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ وَيَوْمَ تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَخْسَرُ المُبْطِلُونَ 27
45:28 You shall see every nation hobbling on their knees. Each nation shall be summoned to its Book. (And it will be said,) ‘This Day, you shall be recompensed for what you were doing.
# وَتَرَى كُلَّ أُمَّةٍ جَاثِيَةً كُلُّ أُمَّةٍ تُدْعَى إِلَى كِتَابِهَا اليَوْمَ تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ 28
45:29 This is Our Book that speaks with the truth over you. We have recorded all that you were doing.’
# هَذَا كِتَابُنَا يَنطِقُ عَلَيْكُم بِالْحَقِّ إِنَّا كُنَّا نَسْتَنسِخُ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ 29
45:30 As for those who have believed and done good works, their Lord will admit them into His Mercy that is a mighty triumph!
# فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ فَيُدْخِلُهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ فِي رَحْمَتِهِ ذَلِكَ هُوَ الفَوْزُ المُبِينُ 30
45:31 But, to the unbelievers (it will be said), ‘Were My verses not recited to you, but you were proud and were you not a sinful nation?’
# وَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا أَفَلَمْ تَكُنْ آيَاتِي تُتْلَى عَلَيْكُمْ فَاسْتَكْبَرْتُمْ وَكُنتُمْ قَوْماً مُّجْرِمِينَ 31
45:32 When it was said, ‘The promise of Allah is true, and of the Hour there is no doubt,’ you replied, ‘We do not know what the Hour is, we guess, assuming, and we are by no means certain.’
# وَإِذَا قِيلَ إِنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ وَالسَّاعَةُ لاَ رَيْبَ فِيهَا قُلْتُم مَّا نَدْرِي مَا السَّاعَةُ إِن نَّظُنُّ إِلاَّ ظَناًّ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُسْتَيْقِنِينَ 32
45:33 The evil of their deeds will appear to them, and they shall be encompassed by that they mocked,
# وَبَدَا لَهُمْ سَيِّئَاتُ مَا عَمِلُوا وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ 33
45:34 and it shall be said, ‘Today, We will forget you as you yourselves forgot that you would encounter this Day. The Fire shall be your refuge, and none will help you.
# وَقِيلَ اليَوْمَ نَنسَاكُمْ كَمَا نَسِيتُمْ لِقَاءَ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا وَمَأْوَاكُمُ النَّارُ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن نَّاصِرِينَ 34
45:35 That is because you took the verses of Allah (the Koran) in mockery, and you were deluded by your worldly life.’ So that Day they will not be brought out of it (Hell); nor shall they be repentant.
# ذَلِكُم بِأَنَّكُمُ اتَّخَذْتُمْ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ هُزُواً وَغَرَّتْكُمُ الحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا فَالْيَوْمَ لاَ يُخْرَجُونَ مِنْهَا وَلاَ هُمْ يُسْتَعْتَبُونَ 35
|@ Praise and pride belong to Allah 45:36-37
45:36 Praise, belongs to Allah, the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the Lord of the Worlds.
# فَلِلَّهِ الحَمْدُ رَبِّ السَّمَوَاتِ وَرَبِّ الأَرْضِ رَبِّ العَالَمِينَ 36
45:37 His is the Pride in the heavens and earth. He is the Almighty, the Wise.
# وَلَهُ الكِبْرِيَاءُ فِي السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ وَهُوَ العَزِيزُ الحَكِيمُ 37
|@AL AHQAAF 46 The Valley of Al-Ahqaf – Al-Ahqaf
1:1 In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
# بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ 1
46:1 HaMeem.
# حـم 1
|@ Allah challenges those who do not believe to show those who believe what their associates have created 46:2-6
46:2 The sending down of the Book is from Allah, the Almighty, the Wise.
# تَنزِيلُ الكِتَابِ مِنَ اللَّهِ العَزِيزِ الحَكِيمِ 2
46:3 It was in truth that We created the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, for an appointed term. Yet the unbelievers do not turn away from that which they were warned.
# مَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا إِلاَّ بِالْحَقِّ وَأَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا عَمَّا أُنذِرُوا مُعْرِضُونَ 3
46:4 Say, ‘Have you seen those whom you call upon, other than Allah? Show me what they have created from the earth! Or, do they have a partnership in the heavens? Bring me a Book before this or some other remnant of knowledge, if what you say is true.’
# قُلْ أَرَأَيْتُم مَّا تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ أَرُونِي مَاذَا خَلَقُوا مِنَ الأَرْضِ أَمْ لَهُمْ شِرْكٌ فِي السَّمَوَاتِ ائْتُونِي بِكِتَابٍ مِّن قَبْلِ هَذَا أَوْ أَثَارَةٍ مِّنْ عِلْمٍ إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ 4
46:5 Who is further astray than he who calls upon, other than Allah, those who will never answer him till the Day of Resurrection, who are indeed, heedless of their supplication?
# وَمَنْ أَضَلُّ مِمَّن يَدْعُو مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ مَن لاَّ يَسْتَجِيبُ لَهُ إِلَى يَوْمِ القِيَامَةِ وَهُمْ عَن دُعَائِهِمْ غَافِلُونَ 5
$ Those who were worshipped will disown their followers 46:6
46:6 And, when mankind are gathered, those will become their enemies and disown their worship.
# وَإِذَا حُشِرَ النَّاسُ كَانُوا لَهُمْ أَعْدَاءً وَكَانُوا بِعِبَادَتِهِمْ كَافِرِينَ 6
|@ Prophet Muhammad is accused of forging the Koran, yet Allah Himself bears witness that the Koran is from Him alone 46:7-8
46:7 When Our clear verses are recited to them, the unbelievers say of the truth that came to them, ‘This is clear sorcery.’
# وَإِذَا تُتْلَى عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتُنَا بَيِّنَاتٍ قَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لِلْحَقِّ لَمَّا جَاءَهُمْ هَذَا سِحْرٌ مُّبِينٌ 7
46:8 Or, do they say, ‘He (Prophet Muhammad) has forged it?’ Say, ‘If I have forged it, then you have no power to help me against Allah, He knows what you say. It is sufficient that He is the Witness between me and you. He is the Forgiving, the Most Merciful.’
# أَمْ يَقُولُونَ افْتَرَاهُ قُلْ إِنِ افْتَرَيْتُهُ فَلاَ تَمْلِكُونَ لِي مِنَ اللَّهِ شَيْئاً هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تُفِيضُونَ فِيهِ كَفَى بِهِ شَهِيداً بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكُمْ وَهُوَ الغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ 8
|@ Allah confirms that Prophet Muhammad is indeed His Messenger. The prophecy of Jesus is fulfilled Prophet Muhammad who said, ” A messenger will come who will not speak from himself, but only with the Words of Allah 46:9
46:9 Say (Prophet Muhammad), ‘I am not an innovation among the Messengers; nor know what will be done with me or you. I follow only what is revealed to me; I am only a clear warner.’
# قُلْ مَا كُنتُ بِدْعاً مِّنَ الرُّسُلِ وَمَا أَدْرِي مَا يُفْعَلُ بِي وَلاَ بِكُمْ إِنْ أَتَّبِعُ إِلاَّ مَا يُوحَى إِلَيَّ وَمَا أَنَا إِلاَّ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ 9
|@ A sincere witness from the Children of Israel put aside racial pride and recognizes, and testifies that the Koran is from Allah 46:10-14
46:10 Say, ‘Consider, if this (Koran) is from Allah and you disbelieve in it, and a witness from the Children of Israel testifies to its like and believes, while you are proud! Indeed, Allah does not guide the harm doers.’
# قُلْ أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِن كَانَ مِنْ عِندِ اللَّهِ وَكَفَرْتُم بِهِ وَشَهِدَ شَاهِدٌ مِّنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ عَلَى مِثْلِهِ فَآمَنَ وَاسْتَكْبَرْتُمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لاَ يَهْدِي القَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ 10
46:11 The unbelievers say of the believers, ‘Had it been any good they would not have believed in it before us.’ And because they are not guided by it they say, ‘This is an ancient falsehood.’
# وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَوْ كَانَ خَيْراً مَّا سَبَقُونَا إِلَيْهِ وَإِذْ لَمْ يَهْتَدُوا بِهِ فَسَيَقُولُونَ هَذَا إِفْكٌ قَدِيمٌ 11
46:12 Yet before it there was the Book of Moses which was an authority, and a mercy. This (Koran) is the Book confirming it (the other untampered Books) in the Arabic tongue, to warn the harm doers and to give glad tidings to those who do good.
# وَمِن قَبْلِهِ كِتَابُ مُوسَى إِمَاماً وَرَحْمَةً وَهَذَا كِتَابٌ مُّصَدِّقٌ لِّسَاناً عَرَبِياًّ لِّيُنذِرَ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا وَبُشْرَى لِلْمُحْسِنِينَ 12
46:13 Those who say, ‘Our Lord is Allah,’ and follow the Straight Path shall have nothing to fear nor shall they sorrow.
# إِنَّ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا رَبُّنَا اللَّهُ ثُمَّ اسْتَقَامُوا فَلاَ خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلاَ هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ 13
46:14 Those, they shall be forever the inhabitants of Paradise, a recompense for what they did.
# أُوْلَئِكَ أَصْحَابُ الجَنَّةِ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا جَزَاءً بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ 14
|@ Kindness to one’s parents 46:15-18
46:15 We have charged the human to be kind to his parents. With much pain his mother bore him, and with much pain she gave birth to him; his bearing and weaning are thirty months. When he grows to manhood and attains his fortieth year, he says, ‘Make me so disposed My Lord, so that I give thanks for the favors with which You have blessed me, my father and mother, and that I will do good deeds that will please You. And, make me righteous and also my descendants. To You I repent, and I am among those who surrender.’
# وَوَصَّيْنَا الإِنسَانَ بِوَالِدَيْهِ إِحْسَاناً حَمَلَتْهُ أُمُّهُ كُرْهاً وَوَضَعَتْهُ كُرْهاً وَحَمْلُهُ وَفِصَالُهُ ثَلاثُونَ شَهْراً حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغَ أَشُدَّهُ وَبَلَغَ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةًقَالَ رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِي أَنْ أَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ الَتِي أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَى وَالِدَيَّ وَأَنْ أَعْمَلَ صَالِحاً تَرْضَاهُ وَأَصْلِحْ لِي فِي ذُرِّيَّتِي إِنِّي تُبْتُ إِلَيْكَ وَإِنِّي مِنَ المُسْلِمِينَ 15
46:16 Such are those from whom We will accept the best of what they have done and whose evil deeds We shall overlook. Those, they are among the inhabitants of Paradise; true is the promise that has been promised them.
# أُوْلَئِكَ الَّذِينَ نَتَقَبَّلُ عَنْهُمْ أَحْسَنَ مَا عَمِلُوا وَنَتَجَاوَزُ عَن سَيِّئَاتِهِمْ فِي أَصْحَابِ الجَنَّةِ وَعْدَ الصِّدْقِ الَّذِي كَانُوا يُوعَدُونَ 16
46:17 But he who says to his father and his mother, ‘Fie on you! Do you promise me that I shall be brought forth, when entire generations have passed away before me?’ Yet they supplicate to Allah for help ‘Woe to you! Believe, surely the promise of Allah is true.’ Then he says, ‘This is nothing but fairytales of the ancients.’
# وَالَّذِي قَالَ لِوَالِدَيْهِ أُفٍّ لَّكُمَا أَتَعِدَانِنِي أَنْ أُخْرَجَ وَقَدْ خَلَتِ القُرُونُ مِن قَبْلِي وَهُمَا يَسْتَغِيثَانِ اللَّهَ وَيْلَكَ آمِنْ إِنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ فَيَقُولُ مَا هَذَا إِلاَّ أَسَاطِيرُ الأَوَّلِينَ 17
46:18 Such are they against whom the statement is realized concerning the nations of humans and jinn alike that passed away before them; they were the losers.
# أُوْلَئِكَ الَّذِينَ حَقَّ عَلَيْهِمُ القَوْلُ فِي أُمَمٍ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّنَ الجِنِّ وَالإِنسِ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا خَاسِرِينَ 18
|@ Pride and debauchery 46:19-20
46:19 Each shall have their degrees, according to what they have done, so that He will recompense them for their works, and they shall not be wronged.
# وَلِكُلٍّ دَرَجَاتٌ مِّمَّا عَمِلُوا وَلِيُوَفِّيَهُمْ أَعْمَالَهُمْ وَهُمْ لاَ يُظْلَمُونَ 19
46:20 Upon the Day when the unbelievers are brought before the Fire, (We shall say to them), ‘You squandered your good things in your earthly life and took your fill of enjoyment in them, therefore today you shall be recompensed with a humiliating punishment, because you were unrightfully proud in the earth and for that you were debauchers.’
# وَيَوْمَ يُعْرَضُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا عَلَى النَّارِ أَذْهَبْتُمْ طَيِّبَاتِكُمْ فِي حَيَاتِكُمُ الدُّنْيَا وَاسْتَمْتَعْتُم بِهَا فَالْيَوْمَ تُجْزَوْنَ عَذَابَ الهُونِ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَسْتَكْبِرُونَ فِي الأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ الحَقِّ وَبِمَا كُنتُمْ تَفْسُقُونَ 20
|@ The destruction of Aad was not an act of “mother nature” it was a sign with which we might learn a lesson 46:21-28
46:21 Remember Aad’s brother who warned his nation in (the valley of) Al Ahqaf. Warners had already preceded and succeeded him saying, ‘Worship none except Allah! (he said) ‘Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a Dreadful Day.’
# وَاذْكُرْ أَخَا عَادٍ إِذْ أَنذَرَ قَوْمَهُ بِالأَحْقَافِ وَقَدْ خَلَتِ النُّذُرُ مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِ أَلاَّ تَعْبُدُوا إِلاَّ اللَّهَ إِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ 21
46:22 ‘Have you come to turn us away from our gods (they replied)? If what you say is true then bring down that which you promise us!’
# قَالُوا أَجِئْتَنَا لِتَأْفِكَنَا عَنْ آلِهَتِنَا فَأْتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَا إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ 22
46:23 ‘Allah alone has the knowledge’ he said, ‘I am sent to deliver to you the Message. But I can see that you are ignorant people.’
# قَالَ إِنَّمَا العِلْمُ عِندَ اللَّهِ وَأُبَلِّغُكُم مَّا أُرْسِلْتُ بِهِ وَلَكِنِّي أَرَاكُمْ قَوْماً تَجْهَلُونَ 23
46:24 And when they saw it as a sudden cloud heading for their valley they said, ‘This is a cloud that will bring us rain!’ ‘Rather,’ (he replied), ‘it is that which you have sought to hasten, a wind in which there is a painful punishment.
# فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهُ عَارِضاً مُّسْتَقْبِلَ أَوْدِيَتِهِمْ قَالُوا هَذَا عَارِضٌ مُّمْطِرُنَا بَلْ هُوَ مَا اسْتَعْجَلْتُم بِهِ رِيحٌ فِيهَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ 24
46:25 It will destroy everything by the command of its Lord.’ And when morning came there was nothing to be seen except their dwellings. As such We recompense sinful people.
# تُدَمِّرُ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ بِأَمْرِ رَبِّهَا فَأَصْبَحُوا لاَ يُرَى إِلاَّ مَسَاكِنُهُمْ كَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي القَوْمَ المُجْرِمِينَ 25
46:26 And We had established them in that which We have not established you, and We made for them hearing, sight, and hearts, but their hearing, sight, and hearts did not help them a thing, because they disbelieved the signs of Allah. And what they mocked encompassed them.
# وَلَقَدْ مَكَّنَّاهُمْ فِيمَا إِن مَّكَّنَّاكُمْ فِيهِ وَجَعَلْنَا لَهُمْ سَمْعاً وَأَبْصَاراً وَأَفْئِدَةً فَمَا أَغْنَى عَنْهُمْ سَمْعُهُمْ وَلاَ أَبْصَارُهُمْ وَلاَ أَفْئِدَتُهُم مِّن شَيْءٍ إِذْ كَانُوا يَجْحَدُونَ بِآيَاتِ اللَّهِ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ 26
46:27 We destroyed the villages around you and We repeated Our signs so that they might return.
# وَلَقَدْ أَهْلَكْنَا مَا حَوْلَكُم مِّنَ القُرَى وَصَرَّفْنَا الآيَاتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ 27
46:28 Why did not those who they took, other than Allah, as mediating gods help them! Indeed, they went astray from them! Such were their lies and what they were forging.
# فَلَوْلاَ نَصَرَهُمُ الَّذِينَ اتَّخَذُوا مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ قُرْبَاناً آلِهَةً بَلْ ضَلُّوا عَنْهُمْ وَذَلِكَ إِفْكُهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا يَفْتَرُونَ 28
|@ The story of the believing jinn 46:29-33
46:29 (Remember) how We sent to you (Prophet Muhammad) a company of jinn who, when they came and listened to the Koran, said to each other, ‘Be silent!’ Then, when it was finished, they returned to their nation and warned them.
# وَإِذْ صَرَفْنَا إِلَيْكَ نَفَراً مِّنَ الجِنِّ يَسْتَمِعُونَ القُرْآنَ فَلَمَّا حَضَرُوهُ قَالُوا أَنصِتُوا فَلَمَّا قُضِيَ وَلَّوْا إِلَى قَوْمِهِم مُّنذِرِينَ 29
46:30 ‘Our nation,’ they said, ‘we have just been listening to a Book sent down after Moses confirming what came before it and guiding to the truth and to a Straight Path.
# قَالُوا يَا قَوْمَنَا إِنَّا سَمِعْنَا كِتَاباً أُنزِلَ مِنْ بَعْدِ مُوسَى مُصَدِّقاً لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ يَهْدِي إِلَى الحَقِّ وَإِلَى طَرِيقٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ 30
46:31 Our nation, answer the Caller of Allah and believe in Him! He (Allah) will forgive you some of your sins and protect you from a painful punishment.
# يَا قَوْمَنَا أَجِيبُوا دَاعِيَ اللَّهِ وَآمِنُوا بِهِ يَغْفِرْ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَيُجِرْكُم مِّنْ عَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ 31
46:32 Those who do not answer the Caller of Allah cannot frustrate Allah in the earth, nor shall any one protect them other than Him; those are in clear error.’
# وَمَن لاَّ يُجِبْ دَاعِيَ اللَّهِ فَلَيْسَ بِمُعْجِزٍ فِي الأَرْضِ وَلَيْسَ لَهُ مِن دُونِهِ أَوْلِيَاءُ أُوْلَئِكَ فِي ضَلالٍ مُّبِينٍ 32
46:33 Have they not seen that it is Allah who created the heavens and the earth and was not wearied by their creation, and that He is Able to restore the dead to life? Yes, He has power over all things!
# أَوَ لَمْ يَرَوْا أَنَّ اللَّهَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ وَلَمْ يَعْيَ بِخَلْقِهِنَّ بِقَادِرٍ عَلَى أَن يُحْيِيَ المَوْتَى بَلَى إِنَّهُ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ 33
|@ The promise of Allah 46:34-35
46:34 On the Day when the unbelievers are brought before the Fire they shall be asked, ‘Is this not the truth?’ ‘Yes, by our Lord,’ they will answer. He will say, ‘Then taste the punishment, for you were unbelievers.’
# وَيَوْمَ يُعْرَضُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا عَلَى النَّارِ أَلَيْسَ هَذَا بِالْحَقِّ قَالُوا بَلَى وَرَبِّنَا قَالَ فَذُوقُوا العَذَابَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْفُرُونَ 34
46:35 Be patient, as the Messengers of might were patient, and do not hasten it for them. On the Day when they see what they have been promised, it will be as if they did not stay except an hour of a day. (This Koran is) a Conveyance! Shall any be destroyed except the nation of evildoers?
# فَاصْبِرْ كَمَا صَبَرَ أُوْلُوا العَزْمِ مِنَ الرُّسُلِ وَلاَ تَسْتَعْجِل لَّهُمْ كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَ مَا يُوعَدُونَ لَمْ يَلْبَثُوا إِلاَّ سَاعَةً مِّن نَّهَارٍ بَلاغٌ فَهَلْ يُهْلَكُ إِلاَّ القَوْمُ الفَاسِقُونَ 35
