As a general rule, seeing a dead person in your dream doing something good means that you should do the same. If what he does is bad he is deterring you, asking you to desist from doing such a thing. Dreaming of a dead person that one knows means joy, but the best of dreams is that in which parents, grandparents, or others relatives are seen.
• Dreaming of one’s dead father, whatever the scenario, except if there is something disgraceful in his appearance: (1) Relief and benefits from an unexpected source. (2) The end of pain and disease. (3) The return of an absent one.
• An identified dead person greeting or shaking hands with the dreamer and inquiring after his health: Will not die that year.
• A dead person greeting the dreamer: He is well off in the Hereafter.
• A dead person shaking hands with the dreamer: Will receive money from a desperate source.

• Going to a grave and digging the earth with one’s nails or trying to unearth the dead: Will probe the life of the dead person dwelling in that grave to follow his pattern.
• Dreaming of having died without seeing any shroud, funeral, or grave or anybody weeping: Relief from worries.
• Dreaming of having died and seeing your corpse without there being any washing, weeping, or shroud: Part of your house will be demolished.
• Being dead without the usual rituals, such as washing, preparation of the body, the carrying of the bier or coffin, the tears and sobbing, et cetera: A portion of one’s house or a wall or some wooden structure in it will tumble or be destroyed. In other interpretations, religious faith and foresight will dwindle and life will stretch. If the rituals and above-mentioned manifestations were there, the case would be more acute.
• Dreaming of having died and been buried without anybody having cried over you or marched in your funeral procession and without having been washed: Some of the parts demolished in your house will never be erected again, unless the hero of the dream was not you.
• Dreaming of having died a very long time ago: Will embark on a distant journey in the company of corrupt and ignorant folk.
• A dead person informing the dreamer that he is alive and well or seeing him wearing a crown or rings or sitting on a couch: He is honoured by God in view of verses in the Holy Quran that read: “Think not of those who are slain in the way of Allah, as dead. Nay, they are living. With their Lord they have provision: jubilant (are they) because of that which Allah hath bestowed upon them of His bounty, rejoicing for the sake of those who have not joined them but are left behind: that there shall not fear come upon them neither shall they grieve. They rejoice because of favour from Allah and kindness, and that Allah wasteth not the wage of the believers.” (“Al-Imran” [The Imran Family], verses 169–71.)

He tries to preach virtue, but nobody listens to him, in view of a verse in the Holy Quran that says: “For verily thou (Muhammad) cannot make the dead to hear, nor canst thou make the deaf to hear the call when they have turned to flee.” (“Al-Rum” [The Romans], verse 52.)
• Lying among the dead: (1) Will die as a heretic. (2) Will travel and never come back.
• Mixing with or touching the dead: Harm will befall the dreamer on the part of thick-skinned and evil persons.

The reverse is also true. For Ibn Siren, taking something from the dead is a good augury; giving them something is bad, unless what was given by the dead was a biting reptile or crawling insect.

• The dead giving honey to the dreamer: Will seize an unexpected opportunity.

• Unknown dead persons standing on their graves: Hardships will befall the people of that area, and many hypocrites will emerge.
• A dead person seen doing something praiseworthy: He is well off in the Hereafter. The reverse is also true.
• Dreaming that a person known to be dead has died again and that people are weeping: A relative of the deceased will marry in a pompous ceremony.
• A person known to be dead dying again and people crying and screaming: One of those whom the deceased left behind, his homonym or his opposite number, will die.
• A dead person drowning in the sea or in any way: Will be engulfed by the Eternal Fire in view of a verse of the Holy Quran that reads: “Because of their sins they were drowned, then made to enter a Fire. And they found they had no helpers in place of Allah.” (“Nuh” [Noah], verse 25.)
• The dead jumping out of their graves and returning to their homes: (1) Prisoners will be released. (2) Plants will grow again after they were dead in that place.
• A pious man dreaming of cutting off the head of a dead person: (1) Will guide someone back to the right path. (2) Will triumph over an enemy. (3) The dreamer’s views will prevail in an encounter.
• A king or chief dreaming that he has beheaded a dead person: (1) Will restore the freedom of certain members of his family. (2) Will release war captives or prisoners.
• Seeing a dead person looking dead in the dream as well: Aims in the world will not be achieved.
• Showing the dead their way in a crossroads: Will acquire knowledge and wisdom and guide misled people to the right path.

• A dead person harvesting: He is reaping in the Hereafter the harvest of his good deeds on earth.
• Going down in a grave pit: Will commit adultery.
• Someone trying to heal a dead person: The former is giving alms while asking for God’s mercy for the deceased whom he misses.
• Blood, urine, or any secretions or excrement coming out of a dead body: The dream could be considered null and void in view of the impossible nature of what was seen; otherwise its meaning should be given at the interpreter’s discretion. For example, it could relate to the homonym, successor, or opposite number of the deceased.
• Moving to a place where there is a dead person: Religious and worldly ambitions will be achieved.
• Seeing a house crumbling all of a sudden and finding its inhabitants dead under the rubble: Death will occur in that place.
• An animal that has claws or fangs lying dead on the ground: (1) Will be safe and sound. (2) Will triumph over enemies, especially if the animal was of the harmful or ferocious type.
• Scattering the bones of the dead: You are spending your money otherwise than in your interest.
• Gathering the bones of the dead: Money and other benefits.
• Kissing an identified dead person: Will benefit from the latter’s bequeathed knowledge or money or something he did during his lifetime.

• A woman dreaming of being wedded to a dead man who then goes into her at his or her place: Her wealth will shrink, her condition will worsen, and her life will be unstable. If the act had taken place at the dead man’s unknown residence, she would die.
Speaking to the Dead Dream Explanation — If a person sees himself as asking a dead person about anything regarding the dead persons or anothers condition then the answer of the dead person will be true to its word- whether good or bad- for the dead person dwells in the world of truthfulness (ie. Akhirah) as opposed to the world of falsehood (ie dunya). Thus, he does not speak a lie in whatever report he gives.
Carrying the Dead Dream Explanation — if a person sees himself carrying a dead person in any manner other than the normal manner of carrying a bier or corpse it means he will carry a burden of haraam wealth. Some interpreters say that the same dream could mean that he is spending his wealth on some pervert. Washing the dead Dream Explanation — (Undertaker) If one sees a deceased person washing himself before burial in a dream, it means relief for one’s dependents and increase of their wealth after him. Washing a deceased person in a dream means that someone will repent at the hand of the undertaker. If a deceased person asks someone to wash his clothing in a dream, it means that he needs someone to pray for him, or to intercede on his behalf before his Lord, or pay charity for the benefit of his soul, or to satisfy his debts, or to fulfill his will, or to seek justice for his death. If one does wash the garment of the deceased person in the dream, it means the redemption of that person. Washing a deceased person with boiling water in a dream means that the latter is suffering in hell-fire. (Also see Grave digger; Hot water; Ritual bath; Undertaker)
Embracing a Dead Person Dream Explanation — If a person sees a dead persons embracing him, squeezing him or killing him it means he will attain a good old age.
Marrying a Dead Woman Dream Explanation — He will succeed in acquiring his pursuit regarding which he has lost all hopes.
Entering an Unknown House with the Dead Dream Explanation — Entering an unknown house in the company of a dead person means he will die soon and thus join the dead person.
Digging the Grave of a Dead Person Dream Explanation — If a person sees himself digging the grave of a dead person who is known to him it means he will follow in his footsteps in worldly as well as religious matters. If he is unknown to him, he will pursue a matter wherein he will not succeed.
Giving the Dead Roti, Bread or a Ring Dream Explanation — It means a son will be born to him and he will die, or if he is wealthy he will lose his wealth.
A Dead Person Entering the Home of a Sick Person Dream Explanation — Either his sickness will prolong or he will die soon.
Eating the Shell or White of the Egg Dream Explanation — Eating the shell or white of the eggs but not the yolk means he will usurp wealth belonging to the deceased or a slain person. It could also mean that he will dig up graves for the purpose of stealing the shroud (kafn) of the dead people.
Shroud Or Mortuary Winding Sheet Dream Explanation — (Also see Dress.) It symbolizes a penchant for adultery. The smaller the shroud, the closer the dreamer is to repentance, and vice versa. But interpreters differ on this point—some of them feel that the larger the shroud, the better the dream is.
• Seeing a living person wearing a shroud: The dreamer has a leaning toward adultery. If the shroud has not been worn, he is inciting others to commit adultery, but nobody responds to his calls.
• Being wrapped up in a shroud: The dreamer will die.
• Dreaming of being wrapped in a shroud like the dead, except for the head and feet, which remain uncovered: Religious corruption or simply things will go wrong.
• Weaving a shroud for a dead person: The dreamer will do something good in memory of the deceased or in favour of his offspring as much as the winding sheet was big, beautiful, or valuable.
• Weaving a shroud for a living person known to the dreamer: Hardships and trouble for the latter.
• Weaving a shroud for a person dreamed of as unknown but alive: Good augury.
• Snatching a shroud from a dead person whom the dreamer used to know: The dreamer will follow the example of that late person.
• Taking the shroud of a dead person: (1) For a virtuous or pious being: The dreamer will specialize in an exotic and very delicate science or craft (or technology in modern times) or will achieve gains by unholy means. (2) For a debauchee: He has very little if not no religion at all, is affecting people’s minds, and indulges in peeping, sneaking, reporting, and violating people’s secrecy.
• Separating winding sheets: The dreamer is a benefactor.
• Asking for a shroud but failing to find one: Bad omen.
• Something enshrouded being given to the dreamer: Benefits.
• Collecting a large number of shrouds: The dreamer is learning various sciences and skills.
Dress Dream Explanation — • Dreaming that unknown people have come to you and dressed you in pompous clothes without there being any feast or marriage, then left you alone in a house: You will die.
• The dead giving the dreamer two well-washed Arab male robes: Will become prosperous.
• The dead lending his robe to the dreamer, then asking for it back: That dead person has very few good deeds to his credit and cannot hope for much of God’s forgiveness.
• The dead giving the dreamer an old robe: The latter will become poor and miserable.
• The dead giving the dreamer a new robe: The latter will become rich and powerful.
• Holding one’s Arab robe and telling a dead person, “Take this and sew it,” or, “wash it,” without the cloth leaving the dreamer’s hand or becoming the property of the dead: Trouble, hardships, and depression. If the dead had taken and worn it, the dreamer would die.
Incident Dream Explanation — A person asked Ibn Sirin (RA): “What is your opinion regarding a person who had dreamed that he borke an egg and ate its white only and not its yolk?” The Imaam said: “Bring me the man who had seen the dream so that he personally relates to me his dream. I will answer him.” The man said. “No, do answer me: I will convey your interpretation to him”. The Imaam refused. He insisted several times and the Imaam refused the same number of times, finally he said under Oath: “My Lord, By Allah, it is I who had seen the dream”. The Imaam said to the people around him: “Catch him and hand him over to the authorities for he digs up graves and steals the kafn from the dead!” he pleaded: “My Lord, I sincerely repent to Allah before you!” He pleaded: “My Lord, I sincerely repent to Allah before you! I promise never to commit this since again all my life!” Thus he was not handed over to the authorities, but was released.
Bondsman Dream Explanation — See Slave. BONE.
• Entering a grave and stepping on the bones of the dead: Will be expelled.
• Scattering the bones of the dead: You are spending your money otherwise than in your interest.
• Gathering the bones of the dead: Money and other benefits.
Clothes Dream Explanation — A man told Ibn Siren, “I dreamed that I bought an ornamented cloth of the best silk, which was folded up. When I unfolded and hung it, I found it rotten in the middle.” “Did you buy an Andalusian slave?” asked Ibn Siren. “Yes,” said the man. “Did you have sex with her?” “No,” said the man, “for I have not yet checked her.” “Don’t bother to do so, because her genitals are stinking.” And so it was when the man had his new slave checked by his women.
• New white clothes: A new chance.
• The dead giving the dreamer something of what he is wearing and the former wearing it in turn: Deep trouble and an acute disease. If the cloth was left till the dead took it back, it means that the dreamer will quickly depart from this world.
• A dead person giving the dreamer a tailored cloth that does not belong to the former and the latter taking and wearing it, then returning it to the dead, who wears it in turn: Those who live under the dreamer’s roof will die unless he had not returned the cloth to the dead, in which case the dreamer’s wealth will increase.
• The dead giving the dreamer a tattered or dirty cloth: Will commit abominations.
• Giving a cloth to the dead, but the latter neither unfolding nor wearing it: Harm will befall the dreamer’s fortune or health, but recovery will follow.
• Taking off some clothes and giving them to the dead: Will die. If the dreamer recovers the clothes, it will be otherwise.
Shroud Dream Explanation — (Wrap) A shroud in a dream means covering one’s private parts, or it could mean having a secret affair, concealing one’s action while displaying a deceptive appearance, or it could mean marriage with an incompatible spouse. Wearing a shroud in a dream also may mean earning money from adultery. If one sees a shroud and does not wear it in his dream, it means that he will be lured to engage in adultery, though he will abstain. Being wrapped in a shroud like a dead person in a dream means one’s death. If one’s head and feet are still uncovered in the dream, it represents his religious failure and corruption. The smaller is the wrap shrouding the deceased in a dream, the closer he is to repentance and the larger is the wrap and more complete is his preparation for burial in the dream, the further he is from repentance. Necromancy Dream Explanation — • Sodomizing a dead man or a woman dreaming that a dead person had made love to her: Benefits from an undesirable source, the same as the dead are undesirable sex partners.
• Sodomizing an identified dead man: Will do something good in memory of the latter, such as offering prayers, et cetera.
• Having incestuous sex or making love to a prohibited dead relation: Again, will pray for, give alms in memory of, or visit that relative’s grave.
• Making love to one’s mother seen dead in the dream: Will meet her if she is alive. Having sex with her in the grave means death.
• A man dreaming of someone dreaming of him that he is having sex with his mother, sister, brother, or similar prohibited relations, seen as dead in the dream: He is not sustaining them as he should, but will change his attitude and be fair to them. It could also mean trouble or worries or, on the contrary, benefit to both parties. If they are alive, it means the reverse and that he does not have much affection for them. In case, according to his dream, the act took place during the Muslims sacred months, he would go to Mecca (Makkah) for the pilgrimage.
• An identified dead person making love to a living one: The latter will get some benefit from a bequest of the heirs of the former, be it material or otherwise.
• In the event of a kiss, it is the one who kisses who will benefit.
• Marrying and going into a dead woman: Will revive a dead matter as important as the deceased was beautiful. If the dreamer had not overwhelmed her or gone into her, the fulfilment would not be perfect, as penetration is a higher state than simple touching.
• A woman dreaming of being wedded to a dead man who then goes into her at his or her place: Her wealth will shrink, her condition will worsen, and her life will be scattered. If the act took place at the dead man’s unknown residence, she will die.
